Perfect Pitch By Salopians Kacey Jones
This weekend saw a second 9 dart leg of the season in the UKDA league. Kacey Jones of Salopian attained the perfect leg in his match against Peter Hughes of Worcestershire on Sunday.
Lets set the scene.
After a Saturday full of matches that didn’t see either side gain an advantage, the score being stuck at 9-9, the Worcestershire women’s A ran riot and took all 6 points. With their men taking 3 of the first 5 games as well it looked as if they were going to run away with the match.
Game 6, enter Kacey Jones. In a tight first leg Peter Hughes took the lead before Kacey’s scoring power found its feet and he raced through the following 2 legs in double time.
Leg 4. Peter throws and starts strong with a 140, Kacey replies with a 180. A good start seen so many times. after the second lot of 3 darts by Hughes, Kacey hits the 4th perfect dart, then the 5th, then the 6th, It’s on! Hughes has a second 140 but all eyes are now on Kacey Jones. The nerves builds the tension grows. Dart 7. it’s there. Dart 8 it’s there. everyone is on the edge of their seats. Dart 9. It’s in! Cue the celebrations.
Outstanding performance. Kacey has achieved perfection.
But it’s not over yet. As he settles back down and gets his heart rate back to normal there are still more legs to play. Hughes takes the following 2 legs to even the score before Jones wraps it up in leg 7 with a 12 dart leg finishing on 121.
Despite his win, Worcestershire go on to win the fixture 20-16 but there will be no denying that the day belongs to Kacey Jones.
Kacey joins Gwents Chris Monk as the second player to achieve a 9 dart leg this season. the 2 men will share the prize fund of £1000 between them should there be no further 9 dart legs.
Congratulation Kasey.
