For the attention of all National League Organisations and their members:
Further to the recent IDM in Leicester the Board of the UKDA have during yesterday and today been made aware of the formation of a Red Dragon Team based League within the Glamorgan County Darts area and contacted Wayne Williams, Chairman of the Glamorgan Darts Organisation, for clarification.
Mr Williams informed the Board that at a recent 2nd AGM the Glamorgan Darts Organisation Executive and delegates present voted on behalf of their members not to join the UKDA but to support the newly formed Red Dragon League instead.
The UKDA Board of Directors have no choice but to respect this decision and confirm the removal of the Glamorgan Darts Organisation from the National League and all UKDA Competitions with immediate effect.
As confirmed at the IDM on 8th August 2021 the UKDA Board of Directors were in discussion with the Glamorgan Darts Organisation regarding a proposed change to the Superleague system played within the Glamorgan Darts area and we were to receive full detail once available. This was supported by those present at the IDM. The introduction of the Red Dragon League is a new development and the Glamorgan Darts Organisation had full opportunity to advise us, and you, of the potential for its introduction, which they clearly chose not to.
The UKDA ethos is that no official, no team and no player is bigger than the system as a whole and as a Board we will be undertaking an immediate review of the impact of this decision and will issue updates as soon as possible conscious that we must protect the interests of all other National League organisations and their members.
Johnny Stefano
UKDA Chairman
For and on behalf of the UKDA Board of Directors
