Cumbria further extended their lead at the top of the table with a 25-11 win at home to Wiltshire.
Wiltshire’s Women’s B sit top of their standings, and produced another strong performance winning 4-2, but the rest was all one-way traffic in favour of Cumbria. The Men’s B took the initiative for the home side, winning 9-3 to lead 11-7 overnight.
Cumbria’s Women’s A won 4-2, with the top Women’s A average of the Division coming via Wiltshire’s Ella Williams (23.12, pictured), followed by a decisive 10-2 win by Cumbria’s Men’s A – their fifth win this season.
Tyne and Wear have moved into second place following a 24-12 win over Montgomery and Radnor, who are still chasing their first win of the season. Tyne and Wear dominated in every section, with the Women’s A and B both producing a 4-2 win.
The Men’s B won 7-5, a win that sees them head their divisional table, with the weekend finished off with a 9-3 win for Tyne and Wear’s Men’s A.
County Durham may have dented their promotion hopes as they drop down the table to third following a 20-16 loss at the hands of Bedfordshire, although they are one of six teams with a match still in hand.
Three of the four top averages of the division came from County Durham players, by way of Susan Hindmarch (Women’s B), Paul Webster (Men’s B) and Jack Bell (Men’s A), but they fell short overall as both the Men’s A and Men’s B went down 8-4 and 7-5 respectively.
County Durham’s Women’s B won 4-2 and the Women’s A tie resulted in a 3-all draw.
Leicestershire have left Middlesex fighting to stay in Division Two as they travelled south this weekend, resulting in a 22-14 win for the visiting team.
The match was tied at 12-12 after the Women’s A match went 4-2 to Middlesex, with Saturday’s Women’s B result reversed 4-2 in favour of Leicestershire and the Men’s B drawing 6-all. The damage was felt by the home team as Leicestershire’s Men’s A, who have lost only one fixture this season, emerged 10-2 winners.
The fifth match between Norfolk and West of England was a game of two halves, with West of England Men winning both their A and B fixtures 7-5 and 9-3 respectively and the Norfolk’s Women’s A winning 5-1 and the Women’s B side drawing 3-3.
The overall result ended 20-16 in favour of West of England which sees them sat in seventh place, with Norfolk one place from safety in 8th.
